'01 330CI "check engine"related prob?

hey all, recently purchased an 01 330ci, very happy with it. Recently the check engine light came on, which evidently has something to do with the emissions systems. I am suddenly finding that when going from full stop to moving in first gear the car is stalling fairly frequently. It sputters out even when the clutch is engaged occasionally. It's a problem that comes and goes. The lights been on for about two or three days. Is the stalling related? If not what else might it be? Other than three thousand dollars at a service shop

I had a similar problem with my 330i - 2001, it was the oxygen sensor ($500.00).
If you go to Advanced Auto Parts they will hook up and read the codes for free!
