04 325I - First Problem

Picked up April 30th, a 325I, sport/Prem. Last night went out to get something out of car and automatic unlock/lock on key worked fine. I went back 1 hour later and no longer works.

Has anyone else had this problem?

The backup set of keys works fine, so I know its the key. What would cause this? Im sure its covered by warrenty.

I bet the key battery is dead... Use that key to start the car and let it charge for half an hour... If it still doesn't work then somethings wrong with the key for sure.

I have this problem on my '02 325ci more often than not. It doesn't happen all the time, but occassionally the lock/unlock doesnt work, as well as the trunk open. Also, the bizarre thing is the door open button on the center console stops working as well. Have to do everything manually.

I am stopping down to dealer this weekend. I am sure they will take good care of me, but if they dont I will certainly let you know.

Hahaha, don't bother calling. BMWNA pops up on the forums occasionally telling you to call some 800 number. It's useless cuz they either just go "go see your dealer" or if it's the dealer's fault, "sorry, the dealers are independent and we can't force them to do anything" or some crap like that.

I just bought my 325i yesterday and the sales lady told me to alternate between the 2 keys they give you so that the one of them has a chance to recharge.

its just a matter of alternating use between the 2 keys
