05 Navigation Issue

I was wondering if anyone can comment on an issue that I have with my navigation system.
I have an 05, 330i with Navigation system (picked up the car in Jan. of 05) so I believe I have the latest DVD version.
The map has a mind of its own and sometimes decides to display the little gas station/shopping/restaurant icon and sometimes it doesn't while I'm driving in the same area. Can't find any adjustable settings or instructions in the manuall to have all icons displayed at all times. I did some searching on the web and there is a way to enable "Advanced" mode on navi's but on older versions only.

Am I missing something?

I think you have the same navi as me. You get iconsif you search for a type of destination. For example, if you drill down in the search menus and locate a gas station, when you go back out to the map it will display a gas station icon at every gas station it has in its database. The icons will remain there until the next time you search for something different, or until you reset your system by removing the DVD. I know of no way to display multiple icon types. If you are getting multiple icon types at the same time, then yours works different than mine.
