Just wondering did anyone purchase the 100K service plan from BMW? Is it worth it? Am I going to spend $1,400 in service between 43K and 100K miles?

I'm from the Boston/Providence area...if that helps.

I've always done oil changes, tune ups, brakes, etc on other cars but this is my first BMW.

Any thoughts?

when my free 3 years was up, i went to the dealer and sat down w/ a service advisor to see what the extended warranty covered- to see if it was worth the money. and, surprisingly, she said that most of the stuff that i would be getting service on from that point on would probably not be covered under that plan. the ext warranty may be different for your model/ model year tho. so, i would call around and get some quotes just as a baseline comparison. for the most part, i just take my car to a local service place (non-dealer) that i've been going to for over 10 years. and, i've been very happy w/ their prices & quality of work. have saved me a LOT of $ over the years.

I've been considering this since I have a 2004 Steptronic. But guess what? It's not covered! All of the big ticket items are excluded. It basically covers brakes and wiper blades...

Excerpts:

Your Maintenance Program upgrade covers all factory-recommended maintenance as listed in the BMW Service and Warranty Information booklet. It also includes the replacement of items that are not covered by the BMW Limited Warranty – such as brake pads, brake rotors, wiper blade inserts – when wear and tear exceeds BMW specifications. Any adjustments required due to normal operating conditions are also included.

Damn Kirby, that sucks major. My comments were without factual merit and assumed it was a complete drivetrain warrantee. I should have known better.... [confused] [?|] [spank]

What sucked for me is that after I purchased my extended a year later I did the Service Bulletin work for the rod bearings and that automatically extended the warrantee coverage (100%) on the engine to 100,000 miles....
