18" and chains...

I just got my 2004 330ci a couple weeks ago. I just realized something really stupid as I was reading the manual...

My car comes with 18" rims, which means I can't install chains on it. Dummest thing is the car came with a cold weather package, with an very "special" ski bag. What a waste of $700!

Only good thing is I don't go in the snow all too much.

2 things. first off why woudl you drive your summer tires in the snow, even w/ a chain.

and do you really want to use your extra $1000 rims in the snow..

as for the cold weather package, you get a nice heated seats, and headlight cleaners, which if anything is just a cool thing to have [headbang] altho, if you live out in la.. yea that was wasted $700 i suppose.

Just buy a second set of tires and wheels (17") for the winter only. Then you can use the "Special" ski bag and in the snow with chains. You don't have to ruin you 18" wheels and it would not be a waist of $700.
