What is the best tire for my 330i performance package with 18s. I lookd at Dunlop Proxies Snow tires and the M3 Winter Sports by i think pirelli. Which are the best tires for handling? My Current tires are bridgestone potenza all seasons. THey are great. THe front tires are fine, i just need to replace the rear for they are bald. Will it make a difference if i just put winter tires on the rear and let the all seasons on the front>????????? please help winter is comming soon. thanks

Do you get much snow? If you do don't get 18 inch, get a set of 16 inch from tire rack. Much saver and who cares about the look when snow is 5 inch high. Wish I could get the 16 inch...

did your a/s tires come as stock? weird, i never heard of that on a zhp..

if you are getting snows, i suggest you get a separate rim/ tires combo. i know it's more money up front, but it'll save you money in the long run.
1. mounting/ unmounting fees per rim will be about $10- $15 times 4 rims times twice a year runs upto $80 to $120 per year.
2. mounting/ unmounting tires will scratch up and sometimes damage your rims. do you really want to risk your nice rims to get hacked up at a tire shop?
3. lastly, road conditions are worse in the winter, and if you get 18s w/ short sidewall, chances of you ruining your rims become greater.

get at least a 17 inch w/ "taller" sidewall or if you really want to drop down to 16s, get AT Italia type 5 rims from tirerack.com (the only 16s to fit over bigger front calipers found in 330s. they are the old school m3 rims. i personally didnt' like it much) you'll need around 35mm offset. (that's what mine is, and it drives ok.) think the stock is forty-something front and 47mm in the back. oh and get all of them to be the same size. staggering snows is dumb if you ask me, (you want the snows to be thin as possible. inbetween 205 to 225 width.) and if they are the same size, you can actually rotate them the next season to maybe eek out another year out of the snows.

if that's not enough reason to get a separate set, snows are already expensive, 18 inch snows are around $25 - $30 more per than the 17s. course 16s are much chaper.

oh and mix/matching snows w/ other type of tires is a bad idea. even when they say that you can get away w/ just putting snows on the rear, for rwd cars, the balance and everything else will be thrown out of wack.

(i officially think i've done way too much research on snows.. .....)
