1988 325is Glass moonroof

Hi !
I just bought a 1988 325is. It has a glass moonroof. I havent seen any others. I was told there are only three in Vancouver where I live. Does anyone know the rarity of these? ie production numbers etc.

Thanks,
New Bimmer owner

Yes, that is completely possible, just as an aftermarket shock asorber can look completely stock [;)], or an aftermarket windshield can look oem.

It could have been special order, but who knows. Call and ask the dealer if you're that curious.

I remember seeing a glass sunroof in my e30 accessories catalog. It was available to be either dealer installed or as a diy project. I think I still have the book stored with my old brochures. Yes, I found the BMW accessories catalog. It was printed in 1986 but the glass moonroof was probably available for a while after that.

The glass moonroof was available in the mid to late eighties as a dealer installed option or diy installation. You can check with your local dealer to see if one can be found. I have an old 1986 BMW dealer accessories catalog that I got when I had my 1985 318i that shows the glass moonroof but does not list the part number. I have another old BMW factory accessories catalog that has the part number but I don't know offhand where it is. I'll look for it today and if I can get the part number I'll post it. There were aftermarket ones also available at one time. You might call Bavarian auto to see if they know of its availability.

That is always the question, price. When looking for nla parts the price skyrockets. One could also post an ad in the Roundel "Looking for something" and hope, hope, hope you get a reply, but its a longshot. From what I've seen in my archives the glass moonroof was only available for a short time because it did not sell too well due to price.
