I'm looking into purchasing a 1995 325is, auto, 93k mi, and was wondering if anyone here can give me an idea of how much per year this might cost to maintain? this will be my first time purchasing a german-engineered car (which i'm really excited about!!!), so needless to say i don't want to just jump into it. also, i was wondering if anyone knows what the going rate for buying one of these things is-- this particular one is listed at $8500 which i think sounds kinda high.

kbb is about $6300 so yeah, thats a bit high. as long as your water pump doesn't go, oil changes at the stealership can cost you $80-$100, and hopefully the car has has inspection 2 done at around 80000 miles, but if not that is like $500ish or more. my two cents, spend a little more time looking at bmw's, find a car with good maintainence records, straight body/rust free, and a good price. it'll take a little extra time, but it'll be worth it.

I'd say $1000/year for maintenance and repairs is about average. Check over the car carefully. Ask for records. How it's been maintained by previous owners makes all the differance. 93000 miles is nothing for this car if it's been cared for. If not, it's going to cost you 1000s.

Oil Changes per year @ dealer $210.00 service lights interval depending on your driving.
DIY per year $100.00
Inspection I was due @ 90,000 cost for inspection about $569.00 depending if everything is ok.
Inspection II for my car $889.00 (1995 CONV) I perform most of the maintenance except rear diff oil change/transmission flush/collant flush and that cost $450.00. If the car has all Maintenance records and maintain it is worth $8,500

Retail (Dealer) $8,750.
Private party Excellent condition $7000.00 / $Good condition6500 / Fair condition $5,800

Good Luck
