1996 BMW 318 IS Coupe Info

Hi Guys.
I recently blew my engine on my 92 Tercel (laugh away! it was a great car) I have been looking around for the last 2 weeks at trucks/ cars and I came across a 96 318 IS coupe. I am going to give you the details about it and what info you can give me on this and if it is worth buying

5 Speed Manual
4 cycl 1.9 134hp
163,000km

The body is in pretty good condition for the year but the front bumber has some pretty big scratches and will ask to repaint before I buy it. No rust or signs of it being in a accident. The right side turn signal is gone but will ask for a new one aswell. He is asking $8500 Canadian. I really like the look of it and the ground effect is really hot! Any advice on motor problems or things I should ge checked would be great. I will be driving it over to my mechanic to check it before i buy it for sure! Hope you guys can help and i can smile when i drive my nice BMW!

Let us know what your mechanic says. We may be able to add on to that or help you read between the lines. Don't have any experience with four cyl cars (last two have been V and I-6s respectively) but can help with other stuff.

$7500 (american $) seems rather high for a ten year old four cyl car -- even for a BMW. I'll bet it's because it's got relatively low mileage considering the age -- comes down to an average of 10K miles per year. That's pretty good.
