I am looking at either a 1999, 2000 or 2001 323 or 328. Is there a great deal of difference between the two other than the motor ( 2.5 vs 2.8).............I am mostly concerened with longevity, quality and reliability. Is one model more reliable than the other. Is one motor reliable or better than the other ???

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Go for a well maintained 2001 330i since you get the 225hp engine, which is reliable, fast, and gets good gas mileage (30mpg). Or you can get a 2001 325i, which has about the same power as a 328i.

thanks guys !

so, no glaring issues on the 2.5 vs 2.8 motor ??? One isn't necessarily a "better car "
There are a number of little improvements around the car that come with the larger engine. All the engines are in the same family and have been work horses for years, with just different displacements. The major electronic additions are on all of them, so maintenance should be comparable. The smaller engine could save you a good chunk of change.

Have you considered coupe vs. 4 door? The 2 door is heavier and longer than the 4 door and less rigid. The sedan is more aerodynamic because of the front windshield and bumper. But all these factors are only by hairs.
