My 328 i sounds really loud coming from the right rear. Almost sounds like the tires. I had 235/40/zr17 michlins I thought they were worn. So I bought
New niche rims and put 235/40/zr18. but the noise is still there. Rotors look good.
The axle boots are not torn. It does not get louder . Just stays at hum. It's driving
me crazy. The tires are not rubing. It kinda sounds like you are sitting right on top of the tire. I have 113,000. miles engine run perfect.
Can someone relate to this??????????

I’m with BMW of North America, LLC. I’m sorry to read of your concern about your 325i. If you and your BMW center would like our assistance, please phone us at (800) 831-1117 or email us at CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com, and mention Reference #200503300329 so that we can help you more efficiently.
325? He said 328. Plus why would bmwna care? His car is out of warranty.

Anyways, if it's ONLY while you're moving, it could be wheel bearings, or possibly bearings within the differential. If it's all the time or when you have your foot on the gas, it could be a fuel pump (you didn't describe specifically if the sound was grinding, whining, etc.) If it's a 100% constant sound (ie doesn't fluctuate with speed) then it's something in the engine or transmission.

I believe its the wheel bearing i had the same problem and it almost drove me [?|] mad i tell ya. Ne ways went to the dealership and had it fixed cant remember(will check) the price but it wasnt that expensive. But it just hums and hums as you drive along and you wont notice unless your driving without music.

We have the same car!

Wow I didn't realize the wheel bearing can go. Was it just a constant hum? How many miles do you have?

Yeap i didnt think the wheel bearing could go either until they changed it. I had about 100k Km on mine when it went. Yes it was a constant annoying hum i tell yah. So go have it checked and tell them you think its the bearing so they know where to start looking.
