2001 330CI Burns Oil????

Ok, it seems that almost every month I have to add a quart of oil to my car as it is burning it. I do drive a lot, but this still seems rather high. I am going to take it for an oil change and tell them about it.

Has anyone experience this kind of problem with their bimmer?

How many miles before you need a quart? Some bimmers do burn oil, and as I recall from other discussions here, BMW claims that a quart every 1500 - 2000 is not considered to be a problem.

The guy from service at the dealer says its normal. It burns 750 to a quart.

My 330 has never burned a drop. My X5 burns 1 quart every 4K miles.

I'm with you, 750 to a quart would piss me off to no end also.

damn... ok I have a 2001 with roughly 70k on it, should I trade it in, or try to sell it?

I have a 2001 330ci and mine does the same thing..... It scared the shit out of me at first because after drving to DC from Baltimore 2 times everyday the oil light would come on about once a month.... the guys at TATE BMW who i have no faith in said that thats normal..... but im not sure It doesnt seem to be leaking oil

I have a 2001, with 75k, I do mainly highway miles and I do not burn any oil. I never have to put oil in the engine between oil changes.

I have a 99 528, bought it new, has 124K on it and it does not burn a drop of oil.
Are you sure it is not leaking oil from the valve cover gasket?

Nope... definitely no leaks... Its just normal
