Thinking of trading my 2002 Passat in for a 2001 330I with only 11K miles.
I was reading my Consumer reports and the 2001 3 series is one car they specifically did not recommnend, but they like the 2002 Model. Does anyone know why that is??
Also what are the Major differences between the 2001 and 2002??
Would it be worth the effort to wait and try and find a 2002 model?? The last thing I want to do is get rid of a car I have no problems with and get something that is a problem.

Thanks

Rob

My car is 2001 and I recommend it. You can get a very nice resale deal on those. [:D]

Don't listen to them. Look at the 2004 model's problems.. I wouldn't recommend those. I guess it depends more on a car-to-car basis.

I would go for it. I just love my car and couldn't imagine driving anything else (well, except an M3 maybe [:)] ) Take it for a drive and see how you compare it to your car now.

Well I ended up with a 2002 330I, Auto,Prem package, and Xenon lights with 5K miles.
Anyone know if there is any cheap HP to be found with any inexpensive Mods??
I can not believe they want you to go 15K miles between oil cahnges. I think I will be doing one myself and then have them do the other.

Nice choice! What colour? Post pics if you have any. I've been thinking about switching the air filter to a K&N filter, from what i've heard it seems to work pretty good. Today i took the exahust valve off mine but haven't had a chance to test it out and see if i notice a difference in the sound.

i believe the 2001 had issue w/ steering. bmw was tweaking w/ the power steering that model year, and the results just pissed everyone off. believe it was a 328 that year?

they were saing that they dumbed down the communicative steering that bmws were known for. and "made it too light" they fixed the issue the year after..

that could've been one of the reasons why 2001 wasn't recommended.. who knows tho, really. congrats on your purch btw.
