Can you really do it?
cuz I have called the dealer and ask for the backup light assembly from 2004 models and put it on my 323Ci. They told me that it won't fit since the power socket and trunk lid is different too...

Do you have any info on that?? That would be great if you do!!
Thanks!

It will fit. Your only problem with a 2000 model year car is you may need to purchase a LCM (or something like that) module to control the lights. Read this: http://www.alkanol.com/e46/index.html Link to the LED tail lights DIY is on the left hand side of the page.

For the lurkers and other readers, this is Coupes only. Converts prolly work too, but I'm not positive on that.

Cool.. thank you very much for the info. Seems like the LCM is the part that killing me then. In fact, my original attempt was only replacing the reverse light assembly that mounted on the trunk lid since they kinda turn yellowish..( Maybe i should just replace them instead of thinking of getting the LED then.. :(

Everyone... I'm pretty sure all coupes from 2000-2003 have the same size for the rear tail lights. The only big difference is some tail lights have clear turn signal areas. Most people want that. I know the Sport models in later years (like 2003) came with clear signals. If you have a car with the yellow signals, you'll have to either change them all, or live with mismatched signal housings.

Cliff Notes: Those parts #s will work for any coupe. Only thing is your signals may be mismatched colors if you have the yellow ones in front and side.

BigBear: If you're original intention was cuz the reverse assembly is fading, it'd be cheaper to just change that little part. However, the LED lights looks cool IMO, and, for SF, are easier to see in the fog. Safety issue and may help avoid some rear end accident.

Yeah, LED tail lights are super bright and super easy to see. It's probably more worth it if you live in an area that often deals with harsh conditions (rain, snow, etc.) quite often.

that'd be cool if i could get some of these on my 318is, would look super cool, and there has been some intense fog around here lately

Anywhere that I can find the info / work arounds for installing the reverse assembly with LED lens?? I pretend that it is a LED lens, right?? Since the installation info for the tail corner light assembly has already posted..

Any help would be great!!) Thanks!!!
