I have a 2004 325 ci convertible and it was crashed and the anti roll bars popped out upon impact for safety behind the headrests. How do you install those back into the car so they will work again?

It's in the owners manual somewhere. I remember reading it, but I don't have mine handy.

I hope no one was hurt in it. It must have been pretty hairy if the roll bars deployed.

I believe that must be done by the dealer. The nitrogen charge deployed the ROPS (rollover protection system) and I'm pretty sure it must be reset/recharged by the dealer. When you find out for certain, let us know, but hopefully I'll never have to deal with it!!

No dealer needed to retract it, but they do recommend getting the dealer to inspect it after wards. On page 68 of the "04 CiC manual it states:

If, after being automatically triggered,
its protective function is not needed,
then the rollover protection system can
be lowered back into place. No special
tool is needed for this.

1. Using a screwdriver from the
onboard tool kit, remove the cover
panel; to do this, position the screwdriver
under the notch

2. Push the lever toward the front of the
vehicle and keep it in this position

3. Keep pressing down on the protective
bar – see arrow 1 – from on top
until you hear it click into place

4. Put the cover panel back in place
and press down firmly

5. Push the back panel of the head
restraint closed – see arrow 2.

Thanks for the update. I knew it said something about the dealer looking at it.

I guess if the ROPS deployed, unfortunately the dealer would be looking at other stuff anyhow....
