Do any '04 convertible owners have a rattle in their roof --- more specifically the right rear pillar or underneath. Only happens when the roof is closed and since its been raining here for a month, I keep hearing it.

I've had it in twice to a dealer who cannot figure it out and it has gotten a little worse.

Anyone else have this issue?

[?|] I just picked up my 325CIC. Only 25 miles on it. Same rattling sound. Was fine during the test drive. Taking the car back in the shop next week.

You can go to the dealer to get it fixed under warrenty for my 2001 330Cic. Personally, I would just get used to that since several months after repair the rattle comes back again... its just the way convertibles are. I don't mind it at all since I blast music all the time and barely hear anything

My rattle finally got fixed --- it was a cracked shock absorber housing. Yea!!!
So COOL !!!, I had the same thing & the same fix. [thumb] (shock mount bulletin)

One small note, If you hear any top rattle (top up), take it in, they did some insulating of the top frame somehow with rubber tubing & also resealed my rubber top seal just in front of the trunk. I dont want any rattles....lol (as if)...at least the 1st few years.

Well back ta work...Mondays kinda suck ![burnout]

So what do you suggest? I mean its livable rattle. Of course, first time conv buyer. Hate to have a $40K+ car rattle with only 30 miles on it.

If it's going to come back again, I mind as well suck it in.

I suggest you guys start to learn about music hense with sterio ON you practically do not hear anything. I guess it also depends on how and where you drive your car.. agressive drivers like me (with load music) could care less for a slight rattle.

I have a rattle too... just figured it was related to the cold weather.

Push: what do you suggest I do. If I raise my volume to cover the roof rattle, then I will hear my speakers rattle [scratch]

BAHAHAHA .. [rofl] [rofl] .. what a car.

Just take it in for as long as you have the warrenty. BMW does not get annoyed when you repeatedly bring it in for the same problem. Take it in for the roof and the sound rattle... they will be happy since the warrenty pays the dealer for the repair. [:I]

Well I have taken it in twice already for the sound rattle and still no fix. The first time they replaced my top speakers even though the rattle is clearly coming from the bottom bass ones. The second trip which was just last week, I brought in a SI that suggested installing foam blocks behind the door panels to eliminate the rattle. BMW said I already have the foam blocks and they don't know what to do about the noise[???1] When I go in for my tranny again in a few weeks, they are going to look at them again, and here in New Jersey if you have the same problem that can't be fixed after three attempts they have to bring someone in from outside the dealership to look at it (under lemon law).

As for the top, my dad's '99 323 cic rattled, his current '02 330 cic rattled so when mine started to rattled I thought it was "normal" in cold temperatures. [rolleyes]

But yeah...what a car.

Is your rattle in the rear? Mine was in the right rear. It took 3 trips -- even the BMW guy couldn't fix it. I took it to another dealer and the tech there found it and fixed it first time. This was the shock absorber housing issue. Good luck!
