So what do you guys think about the new 3 series changes for 2004. They seem very nice.

However, I feel bad for the folks who ordered a 2004 model prior to the changes. Unless the changes were already implemented prior to the articles.
The SMG feature sounds very nice. I wish there were some pics of the interior changes.

Are you saying that they made changes to the 2004 model? Imean not changes form the 2003 to the 2004 but early 2004 to present 2004? I've never heard of that? What changes have they made? And why did they make changes to a car in the same year? Thats strange

2004 changes

I love my car but some of the changes are cool. i personally like the "Bluetooth wireless hands-free cellular phone system will be available as an accessory, but not in combination with BMW Assist " because it shows theyre moving with techonology and it will help me out with my phone. the xenon lights are a nice touch too, but all this redesign isnt too great, i dont like the new form of some of the cars... all in all im happy with my good old. 2001.

I took delivery of my '04 May 1st and have the adaptive xenons with the LED tails/brakes.

tsquared: with the sport package you will get the 17" 68M - same as mine - with Michelin Pilot Sports (very nice tread)

check out bmwusa.com for more info

Tweet,

The article on this sites home page indicates that there are some changes coming for the 2004 sport packages. http://www.bmwboard.com/news/view.asp?linkid=375 . Personally I'm hoping that I get the 68M wheels. The article is some a little confusing as to the wheel style changes for the sport packages.

BTW – this site lays out nicely all the various BMW wheel styles. http://www.kalach.easynet.be/bmw_wheels.htm

What are your thoughts on the adaptive lights? Are they worth the extra money vs the normal Xenoms?

Regards,

Here is what I saw:
325i and 330i - Coupe and Convertible (Available since March, 2003)
* Automatic headlight control standard (formerly optional with Premium Package)
* Revised front-end design
* Revised front and rear bumper contours
* Xenon headlights (low and high beams) now offered in combination with new Adaptive feature, which "steers" the headlights into roadway curves
* Revised taillight technology, incorporating BMW's innovative Adaptive Brakelights
* Revised wheel designs, both standard and optional
* Revised exterior colors
* Revised configuration climate-control panel

* 6-Speed SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox) Transmission will be available on most rear-wheel-drive 3 Series, when combined with the Sport Package as of 10/03 production. It will not be available with all-wheel-drive or the 330i Performance Package.
* Rain-sensing windshield wipers and automatic headlight control will become standard features on the Sedan and Sports Wagon - no longer part of the Premium Package (already standard on Coupes and Convertibles).
* Sirius Satellite Radio is available as an accessory.

Okay - Even though I was one of the first to take delivery, I still had all of the options above. Front end & rear end are redesigned, xenons & lights, wheels on the 325 are all new as with the optional run flats on the 330. The new colors are available, however I don't see a difference between the '03 & '04 climate control panel. The only thing that wasn't available to me was the SMG. 6 speed was standard as were the rain sensing windshiels wipers & auto headlight control. Now with the adaptive lights, the only time you really notice them is when you quickly turn the wheel (as if trying to avoid something in the street). Thats when you really see them move. At slower speeds the lights actually contain themselves and broaden their width so you have a better view of the side of the road. And at higher speeds they elongate their light so you have maximum distance visibility. Now I do not believe that you can get regular xenons on the 2004. It is either the standard halogens or the adaptive xenons. Now the adaptive part is cool, however I must admit I don't realize that I have them 1/2 of the time. Now for me, it was worth the $800 for the xenons, because I live in a dark area and wanted the brighter lights, but it comes down if you want xenons or not. If i had to do it again, i would definetly go xenon!

Now as for the sport package wheels, the link you provided said they were changing wheels on the **325i and 330i - Coupe and Convertible (Available since March, 2003)**. They changed the 325s but not the sport wheels on the 330. They did however switch the tires from Dunlops to Michelin which make a huge difference.

And as the link says, these changes have been available since March (when they started producing the '04s) so who knows if they will make anymore changes.

my $.02

I also understand that the changes for the 325 and 330 have alredy been made earlier this year. There are pre and post March 03 models from what I can see. Look at some of the paperwork on cars at dealerships, March 03 seems to be when the change was made, many show post March 03 options. If I understand correctly, there are significant 3 changes on the way for 05.
