This is going to be my first BMW and I was talking to two different dealers and they are very rude. They are very stuck up. They told me that since I was coming from a Ford its different when you come to the BMW world. Come on, my sticker on my Mustang was 32,000 and the BMW I was looking at is only 34,000 so its not that much of a difference. So anyways, do any dealers ever come off the MSRP, these people here say they wont. Please give me some advice. thanks

I know how you feel. I have had the same rude experience. Two years ago I went to look for my first BMW here in No. Calif. the first dealership (Niello BMW) a sales person actually talked to us and we went for a test drive. However they really wouldn't come down on the price. Went to the next dealership (Roseville BMW) all kinds of salespeople there and not one came to us we had to go to them. Well, they looked at us like we couldn't afford one of their cars even though I was driving a Honda Passport that cost me $30,000.00 so needless to say we left. Ended up buying a VW Passatt used for about $29,000.00. So just this past January we decided to get my BMW went back to Niello saleman did talk to us but didn't even take our number. Called Roseville BMW to see if they had more of a color selection so we ended up at Roseville and bought a 2004 325ci (executive car) they did come down on the price and we also got 2.9 financing. It is amazing how these sale people act like you can't afford one their cars. I was told that 2 years ago they wouldn't really come off the MSRP because the cars were in high demand but they told me now will all the competion with Mercedes and Lexus they were willing to come down a bit. That is how I got the 2.9 back in January they were trying to compete. Good luck hope you get a good deal. [:D] Bev

I would tell the salesman to kiss my A** and make him get on his knees and beg me to buy a car from him. A 2005 325i since the e46 model is being phased out that runs for $34,000 MSRP should be picked up for $29k easily. They are trying to rob you, I would tell the salesman that NOBODY with half a brain excluding himself would pay MSRP for a car off the lot and a model thats being phased out. If I were you and were willing to pay 34k for a NEW BMW, I would get a well equipped 42k MSRP 330i which you should be able to pickup for about 35k. The 330i is TWICE the car the 325i is when it comes to performance and luxury. Go to edmunds.com and price out the car you want with options and bring it with you. At the VERY LEAST don't pay anything over Invoice price for an off the lot car, come on now.

BTW, I got my 330i for Invoice and this was in June of last year... I can't believe how people are willing to be pushed around by the salesman and pay sticker for a car off the lot. [nono]

I totally agree with what Bmw 3325i 783.

Edumds.com is again showing a BMW maufacturer to Dealer rebate. This is in the amount of $4200, for 330i. It is good from 04/01/2005 to 05/02/2005. If you play your cards right, you will get a very good price on a new 2005 330i.

When I bought my 2003 330i at November 2003, the rebate was only in the amount of $3000. The dealer price was $40,170 +$395(dealer fee) +tax+title. I got the vehicle for $3400 + tax + title.

The rebate now is for $4200 and it is in the middle of the year.

BTW, Edmunds.com is showing a $2500 rebate for the 2005 325i.

I suggest you look into this more carefully.

ya, they have the 2500 and they said that is all they will go off since its not a customer rebate...I said I know but I dont want to pay MSRP, they said there is only two dealerships in the area so they sell for MSRP all day long. I guess I will be going to Richmond, VA which is 60 miles away....hopefully they will work with me.

With a rebate like that I don't see why anyone would buy a 325i when you can up the ante to better model.[thumb] Especially if you wouldn't mind paying sticker if you had to for a 325i...

Take a loaded 43k 330i zhp naturally the dealer knocks off 2-3k from the price as part of the buyer impression process since they wanna move the inventory car. Now take off 4.2k for the rebate and we're down to $36,000 for the loaded 43k valued 235hp 330i zhp. If you're willing to drop 34k for a 325i with some addons you should definately add another $2,000 to that and get the best 3 series sedan ever made...

well If I said I saw a 325i for 34,040 would a dealership ever go 2500 off with their dealer incinitive and another 3,000 down from MSRP which would end up being 28540. Is that reasonable or not? Thanks

Give us more details... What is the year of the car and the options etc... A good way to price the 325i would be Invoice - dealer incentive = Final Price. But you need to take into consideration that they don't sell you a car for the price they paid since they wanna make money too. If the car is off their lot $28,540 is not unreasonable at all for a 2005 325i. It just might be worth it to travel out of state or whatnot to get that price.

As for the salesman selling for MSRP all day on an "outdated model" I'd ask him if he thinks hes funny... Seems like VA has loads of ignorant BMW customers, old model cars off the lot for MSRP [rofl]

Don't go to Richmond. They are a rip off!
I live in Richmond and have always been treated like crap at the local Richmond BMW/ Crown BMW people. I faxed bids to several dealers in northern Va/ DC/ Maryland (Passport BMW).
Finally got the best deal over the phone for an ordered 325CI. I chose all equipment and bought it for about 3.5% off sticker from Passport.

This is business

Just a suggestion, which I hope no one will take the wrong way. Buying a car is nothing personal--unless maybe you find yourself a good salesman who's willing to go out of his way for you. Aside from that, it's all business, and it's a matter of supply and demand, with a little nonsense regarding allocations and bonus levels thrown in on occasion.

So, there's no need to go calling people names, or asking them if they're stupid, or whatever. You should be able to buy an E46 sedan for invoice minus incentive plus $1500, or less, at dealers all across America. For a $34000 325i that means around $4500 or more off sticker. For a 330i that means about $6200 or more off sticker. I'm guessing the supply may be getting a little thin, at least if you want a stick, but aside from that, no worries. Since the E90s will be in showrooms in just a few days, you should do even better.

If one dealer won't sell it to you for that, you can certainly find another who will. If one dealer who is close by has the car you want, and another a little farther away is willing to deal, play them off each other. Just say, I'll pay $x for that car--I can get the same car for that at Joe Blow's. As long as you're being reasonable (not looking to give the dealer too little profit), most likely you'll get what you want. And if you don't, then move on to the next dealer. No reason to get mad, or feel slighted. lt's that dealer's loss if he could have sold you a car and didn't get the deal.

Just IMHO.

I paid $29,920 for a 325i stickered at $34,220 about 3 months ago. Just love it--but if I had it to do over again, I might have worked harder to find a 330i! I probably could have done better, but I wanted a stick and there were just not a lot around. If I had been willing to get an auto, I'd have had lots of choices. In retrospect, I should have expanded my search to more dealers, but the car puts a smile on my face every day, and that's what counts! [bmwdance]

Well said. However, if the salesman is rude then he deserves to hear it.... In that particular case it seems as if that dealership is laughing all the way to the bank while condescendingly "serving" customers.

Check out online places. I use www.carsdirect.com as a base. Oftentimes, they're the easiest way to get a low price. You can negotiate off that price of course, but some people are lazy. Either way, right now, a 2005 3 series sedan is going to be CHEAP b/c of the new e90 sedan. It's definitely not MSRP. Hell, when I bought my car, I got lower than MSRP. And it was during a time when no new model or feature was coming out and it's a coupe (sedan's are easier to bargain cuz more people buy them so higher turnover).

well I did it. I went all the way down to Richmond BMW I bought a 2005 325i. It has the premium package and I paid the extra 500 to get the rear seats that fold down and the cold weather package. The MSRP was 35,045 and I got 4880 off which ended up being 30,165. Out the door cost was 31,526.03. I think I got a good deal, espically since the other BMW places didnt want to budge offf MSRP. What do you all think?

Overall, I think you got a pretty good deal. Like you have seen in previous posts on this subject with the new body out, you may have gotten another grand off on a 325 with another dealer, but you can do that all day long and may never really be satisfied with a price. BMW's are generally over-priced to other cars in its class, but when you finally own one, your in a totally different class then Honda/Lexus/Nissan owners. Some of my friends jokingly call me a "Yuppie", but that's just becasue what they drive is NO comparison. More power to ya and welcome to the Club!

If you would have been willing to travel further out of state you could have made it out the door for $30,000 even but for convenience considering you will eventually need service and want a loaner and the fact that it's said and done you did get a decent price. I'd say the dealer did well and you did pretty good, enjoy your new car. [thumb]

Yeah, you can always do better. Someone, somewhere in this country, is gonna be able to beat that deal you got. After a while tho, it's not worth it to keep looking for that extra few bucks off. What matters is if you're happy with the price adn convenience and stuff. It's not like you got ripped off. Like someone said, you can always say you got "ripped off" when buying a BMW cuz they're overpriced compared to the competitors. But, the feeling you get when driving it is when you feel like it isn't overpriced at all.
