Okay, here's a question to all. Which would u recommend going with, an '00 328ci, or an '01 325ci. I'm not a big stickler into the whole issue of new-ness, but the laser cut keys appeal to me, as does the mirror memory, and the extra clock function on the radio, all changed on the '01. However I'm very much attracted to the 2.8L. Was there any real differences in available packages between the 328ci and the 323ci?

I think the 328ci came standard with the sport suspension and the 323ci was an option. If you get them fully loaded then go with the 328ci. There is about a 10hp difference between the two, but the 328 has slightly more torque. Either one of those two will offer very little in terms of aftermarket parts compared to the 330ci and 325ci.

Remember that the 323ci and 325ci have different 2.5L engines.

Get a 325CI just because I just bought one and that makes them better.... ha!

Certainly weigh in milage, price (only a factor for some) and is there a warranty?

A close family friend is picking one up for me from either an auction, or a wholesaler, so prices will be skewed compared to resale prices. Unfortunately, I don't have the option of looking at it prior to buying it, however I'm saving myself a solid 4-5 grand. I looked at one 323ci, with HIDs, sport seats, 5 spd, heated seats, leather, black on black, everything I wanted... 55kmi, and she wants 21500, has 18" chrome rims (they're hott too!!), dropped about an inch and a half, maybe two, but shes the third owner (bought it from a friend), and her friend( previous owner) had to put a new clutch and new tranny in. That raises suspicion that it was probably run pretty hard. I live in upstate NY, and there really arent many for sale that are ci's, in addition to being a standard. I'm twindling on that one, however really think I should hold out for one through the auctions/wholesaler. Any input?
