323ci normal vs sport

I think (cuz stuff changes every year), that the sport gets the following stuff extra:

Sport suspension
Sport steering wheel (3 spoke; I think the 323 had the real cool looking 3 spoke one and not the current 4 spoker masquerading as a 3 spoker)
Sport seats
17 inch wheels w/ sport rims
Possibly clear turn signals, but I think that came around the time that 325's were introduced.

I think so. The normal suspension is very good in that it's an incredible combination of handling and ride quality. The sport suspension is noticeably harsher, however, it's also noticeably flatter in turns and just generates more confidence during the real high speed turns.

What's best depends on your situation and what you're going for. If your city has tons of traffic, tons of potholes, not many curves, then the normal suspension prolly suits you best. If you've got teh chance to open it up on some serious curves (even if it's an empty freeway onramp), you may want the sport suspension.

If you don't have the sport package already, it might be cheaper and easier to just go aftermarket with some Bilsteins suspension package or something like that instead of trying to buy the OEM sport package parts.

I'm not sure about the price. I'm not very up to date on pricing on used cars. If it has a CPO warranty, great. Check other online used car sites to get an idea of pricing in your area.

As for the sport pack, I always recommend it. That's cuz I have yet to run across someone on this board who's buying the BMW purely for the badge. People who go on this board tend to be people interested in the handling and performance of a BMW. As such, if they haven't bought the car yet, I always recommend looking for one with a sport package. You get the "full" BMW driving experience IMO. Plus, it's a really good deal. New, it only costs about $1000. Totally worth it considering you get the better looking steering wheel, the much better seats IMO (both in looks and functionality), and all the other Sport Package stuff. It costs a TON more to add all that stuff back in after you've bought the car.

And as for the 323 vs. 325 difference, I say get what you can afford. Performance wise, there's really not that much difference. The 323 had more horsepower, but the 325 had more torque. Or maybe it was the other way around. Doesn't matter really cuz the difference was so small. I only recommend going for the newer engine when it's btw the 328 and the 330 cuz the 3.0 engine made enough of a performance difference to be worth the extra money IMO.

I strongly agree. Like he said, it does depend on what you're interested in and what kind of driving you do, but having owned 3-series both with and without, I will not go without again. Good luck!

Hey jeff got a 2000 328i in toronto for pretty much about the same price. Mine came with the premium package and wicked 18" rims with about 90k km on it. I think yours is not a bad price but you can shave a $1000 of it if you try harder. If you want i can give u a dealership to go to they are pretty good

323 and 325 have different engines actually - but the end result is the same, the 325 has more hp, the 323 has a little more torque. Same base times for 0-60 and 1/4 mile, etc. It all evened out.

LIke Codex said, if that's not a CPO car, that's a little high priced on a 323 these days. CPO, they are still going 22-23k here, but that's real low milage cases - the cream of the crop. 2000 323's on some other dealers lot that isn't selling it CPO, you can prolly get it anywhere from 18-20.

If it comes with the normal suspension, don't bother with BMW's sports suspension, go aftermarket. It'll last longer, and you'll have more choices for what you're looking for (and it'll cost less!)
