Specs? You mean horsepower? The engine is really the only main performance difference. It's prolly better to buy a 328, and then slowly mod from there. Unless you throw on a supercharger, the BMW engine is pretty maxed out and you'll only see modest gains from most bolt on parts.

so 323 a good buy then? how much faster is it? ie 0-60 and 1/4 m
The differences in the times are very slight - I'm too tired tonight to go fetch #'s off of google, but I know 323's since I own one..

0-60 7.1 (8.1 auto) - I run high 6's with just a CAI and software
1/4 - (low 15's stock) I run very high 14's, 15's if the weather is boggy.. (in a manual, dunno auto times)

The 323 is a 2.5l inline6, the 328 is a 2.8l inline 6. The 323 uses cast engine parts, the 328 uses forged parts. That doesn't really matter unless you go FI - in that case the only real 'safe' option on a 323 is a low psi supercharger (believe me, done the research, and purchasing this summer). 328's forged parts are stronger, you can run good sized superchargers and small turbo's on them before you need to strengthen up the engine some..

328's also have more options 'standard' (IE: Most 328's you find will be loaded, most 323's you find will be minimum, with the rare exceptions).

IF I recall correctly, 328's 0-60 (manual) is only 6.7 or 6.8, just a few tenths better. That's about/almost 1 carlength at 60mph? [idea]

I love my slow 323! (slooowly getting faster!) [cheers]

(Where's GGM when ya need him?)

Nice, you are looking at a mostly loaded 323, not having fogs is again one of those wierd one off's you find on 323's only.. (I got crappy bucket seats, cd player, but did have fogs..)

I would think you could put fogs in on a car that didn't come with one (not an issue on one that 'does' come with them), my only thought is you might have to take it to the dealership to get the ECU to recognize them? Not sure on that honestly - but does it already have the foglight button by the light switch? May be you just need to install and wire it.

You can always look into getting a different bumper, and getting 'round' fogs, all the good aftermarket e46 bumpers have round fogs.. 2001's I think were the last year of the rectangular fogs on 3 series?

where's a good place to look for one of those aftermaket bumpers? and an hid kit. i've always wanted hid!!!
Bumpers, I'd say to at least browse and compare start with bavauto.com. From there, once you find a style you really like (Hamann, ACS, etc etc) then you can poke around and find their direct site to see more selections.

For BMW lighting, I'd suggest umnizta, good rep, backs products, and has some of the best HID's out there, even for E46's.

umnitza.com

I'm running an ECIS intake, and Conforti shark software.

Good luck!
