Hello all! I've had mine 01 325i manual for over a year now. Still love the car but I've been noticing that the car is rather slow in 1st and 2nd gear. Now I don't usually stomp on the gas and drag at the stoplight. But I've been noticing that many other cars can out accelerate me when starting from stop, its not until I get to 3rd gear that I catch up with them -- and this is not even racing , just everyday driving. Is it my driving or is everyone just driving faster nowadays. My friend with an 97 M3 said the same thing the other day. Maybe I should get an automatic next time instead. What's your experiences?
325i 5sp slow in 1st and 2nd gear?

The 325i has only 5 gears and 184hp, it's a somewhat slow car compared to the new Nissans and Hondas, and other new high HP cars flooding the market in your area. The reason why you haul them in at 3rd gear is because those cars start off fast, but stop pulling while your 325i keeps pulling...(or they lay off the gas to let you catch up ![[hihi]](/images/smilies/icon_smile_hihi.gif "Hi Hi [hihi]")

In the 325i 3rd gear is one great gear that will pull you from 50-85 in no time, then the car crawls...
I was playing with an Acura TL the other day in my 225hp 330i, and for 270hp I would have expected it to pull a little better.
