Hi everyone,

I just bought a 2004 black/tan BMW 330xi with the premium package. I just want to introduce myself. Also, can you tell me if I will be able to drive my car in snow with ease? Is this car just as good in the snow as the 325xi? Also, is the ride just as smooth with the 17 inch wheels as the 16 inch wheels? This will be my daily driver and I live in New York. Thanks in advance for the input.

Welcome to the board and congrats on your new wheels. I'm sure you'll get more detailed technical answers from some on this board but I'll give you my seat-of-the-pants review. I got my '03 330xi in June. This weekend was my first chance to drive it in snow... and it was a monster snow in Rhode Island. I was able to take it out in some places that were safe to practice. It was a blast. I leared that the limits of this car in snow are apparently greater than the limits of my nerves. I just couldn't bring myself to push it past what it could handle. After all the fun I had with it this summer, it just keeps impressing me more.

Welcome to the forum. The 17" wheels will give you a bit of a harsher ride, but will also provide better handling than the 16" wheels. The 330xi and 325xi have the same AWD system, so they should be equally good in the snow...the only difference is your lower-profile 17" wheels (which really aren't very low-profile anyways) which will not do as well as the 325xi's 16" wheels, but the car should still do a very adequate job in the snow. The best advice I can give you when driving in the snow, is to just be cautious and don't be stupid. AWD gives you better traction and control, but you still have to be careful. Just be cautious and stay in control and you will do fine in the snow. [:)]
