Hey guys~~~
I've finally narrowed down my choices to buying the xi models. I've read the threads on the xi and it seems to deal pretty well with snow. I live in central PA and drive every now and then to NY and CT so I need a machine that deals well with snow.

It's a sad fact that they don't have 330xi wagons...but I really need that extra luggage space.

It seems as if there aren't many reviews around for the 325xi wagon, despite the many for the Sedan version. Do you guys happen to be able to name some positives and negatives about this car? Is it pretty comparable with the 325xi? It 'is' a pretty solid car, do you think?

Warm Regards~

Thanks in advance!! [:D]

we have had our wagon about 3 weeks - our 1st BMW

It is a great car, just came in from a trip with about 3" of fresh snow on the ground no problem, great traction and ABS works really well.

The build and finish on this car is tremendous.

Get heated seats, I would also have preferred zenons but the regular headlights are excellent.

We have the steptronic and performance is very good average about 19 mpg around town.

I have one issue with the steptronic and that is when the car has sat overnight and is cold I back out of the garage OK then when I step on the gas to move forward the revs increase to about 2000 rpm before the car moves.

Once the car has been driven this doesn't happen again.

I don't notice this in my new Z4 which aslo has steptronic.

I got the Cold Weather Package with my '03 330xi. One of the features is that the rear seats fold down from the trunk and it opens up a lot of space. You might want to check it out before going with the wagon for space reasons (if you're not carrying extra passengers also).

Yeah, I was going to suggest the same thing... unless, of couse, you need the back seat for the kids.

The new wagons are nice, and they are (were) running a deal at my dealership on them. I got my car the week of Thanksgiving last year, and I got a CPO '00 323i. They were wanting to put me in a new '04 wagon at about the same cost (biig special, that or they just needed to empty the lot). If I could have afforded 2 cars at the time, I'd have traded in the wife's Laredo and got her in a wagon! I did test drive it - it was very nice, the one I drove had some sporty wheels (only 16's I think), but overall it was impressive for a wagon.

Then, thats when reality kicked in - I won't ever drive a wagon as my main car. Buuut, the wife might have to have one in a year or 2.. [:D]

It had enough 'giddyup' for a wagon for me. Great view areas. Tight as a BMW should be, yet strangely a wagon!

You should read the thread in this forum that begins "It's Baaaack!!..."

The transmission issue you describe is a widespread defect that BMW is correcting by completely replacing the transmission. We have the same issue on a 4-wk old 330CiC.
After reported having the problem and finding threads in several forums on this subject to my sales rep., he and the sales manager went onto their lot and found at least two cars with the problem.

On the plus side, most dealers, including mine, are being very responsive in dealing with the issue.

i regret not being able to convince my wife to agree on the wagon. i love wagons in general, and i really like the "feel" of the 325i wagon. too bad for me. maybe next time.

We had an 02 325xiT and I loved driving it. We did a 3000 mile Road Trip from SoCal up to Portland, OR and back, and I made a speed run on the way back: Portland to Salinas, CA (750 miles according to the Nav) in about 10 hours. I was cruising at 80-85 the whole way and didn't get a second look from any Law Enforcement the whole way.

The only down side was not enough storage in back. We bougth a 16 cu ft rack top box (Thule) for the trip because all the baby stuff plus our luggage just wouldn't fit. That box was a freaking Cloaking Device! Even with the box up we got around 24 MPG on the run home.

We sold the wagon back for an X3 3.0i.
