328 steptronic problems

Hi, i have search around but didnt find the answer i was looking for.

The problem is when i have my transmission in Manuell mode. I can gear up and down when aclerating normally. But when i drop the hammer down, it wont gear when i am pushing the shift. It waits until it shiftes by itself (red limiter).

Does anyone know what can be the reason why it does that? Is it because i push it to a kickdown mode?

That's because you are pressing the "downshift button" and when you have it floored the transmissions computer is in maximum-acceleration mode and evidently the tip-tronic feature that lets you play with the gears is overrided.

On another note, whats the point in shifting it when you have the car floored anyway? It wont go any faster, it sounds to me like you wanna ruin your transmission or overrev the engine and are wondering why it won't let you. Be happy when your steptronic is healthy, since once you hit 100k+ the steptronics life expectancy diminishes.

Well, I might not be cleared in my post, but I meant gear up, and not down. Let me explain: Say I want to aclerate and I am flooring it, and wouldnt go to the red limiter, soo i want to put say 3 gear in faster than waiting for the red limter. From 2 to 3. Does it make sence now?

If you want to upshift then you shouldn't floor it all the way to the point where it presses the downshift button. Your goal is redundant, next time you want to upshift while giving gas be gentle on the pedal and don't shift it all the way.

Soo there is nothing wrong with the transmission? It should act like this when hitting the "kickdown button" like it will goo to the maxium no mather if its in manuel? Are you sure you know what i am trying to explain mate? My english suck, soo bare with me
