Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I just got into the Navy and am looking toward putting my signing bonus toward a new car. I was set on getting a G35 coupe until my friend convinced me to drive a BMW. All the dealer had in a manual was a 325xi, so I drove that and absolutely loved the feel, but it was obviously lacking power and the shifting didn't feel as crisp/short as I would have like. Its like the car had a soul of its own; absolutely amazing. I had also test drove the G35 6MT and thought it was fun and held exceptionally well with limited to no body roll through the turns, but it felt much heavier than the BMW.
Poking through the forums and autotrader I've come to love the 330 ZHP. My price range is 23-24k; both cars fall into although I can get the g35 with far fewer miles (30,000 compared to about 50,000) for the same price. Can anybody give me a first hand account of the difference in feel between these cars, seeing as I have yet to drive one? Am I more likely to run into trouble of a ZHP being abused vs getting a G35 with less miles and was probably driven by less of an enthusiast? I plan on doing as much work on the car as I can, but is the BMW still going to be vastly more expensive to upkeep?
MrElussive and Sly: I've read a lot of your posts concerning the G35C; anything more to add from your experiences?
Thanks guys.
