330ci Control Arm worn?

1. How do you know if a control arm is needing replacment? This would be for a 01 330ci.

2. Also when I turn my wheel all the way to one direction, the wheel kind of sticks there by itself...? Is this normal, it turns back with little effort but not by it self..?

Please provide imput.

I had a control arm put in backwards somehow (if it is possable), or so they told me. Steering was just all over the place, and did not feel natural for the car.
