Currently looking at buying a new 330ci with the Performance Package and have located one at the docks in SC in Titanium Silver w/o GPS. I'd like GPS, but am debating on if it is worth it or not to order one from Germany. I'd like to hear if anyone has taken delivery of the new "performace package" and how it is liked.

You can do a search for "ZHP" and find tons of feedback.

BTW, ZHP is the dealer code for the Performance Package. ZSP is the sport package and ZPP is the premium package.

I drove both the ZHP and ZSP versions of my car and settled on the ZSP. The primary reason was the ride. ZHP is far too harsh a ride for me. If I were doing serious racing and cornering, I guess I'd need it. But let's face it... the majority of the time my car will be getting me from home to work and back again (90 mile round trip daily), so I want it to be a comfortable ride. Other things I didn't like about the ZHP were the Alcantara (sp?) leather accents on the steering wheel, and shift boot, and didn't like the fact that the interior trim couldn't be substituted for wood grain. I think the wood grain gives the car a classier look -- especially against my black interior. So, I went with the performance, premium and cold weather packages.

Also, to your question about the NAV, I think you should get it. I'm so glad I did.

Thats funny, the stiff ride on the ZHP is one of the reasons why I decided to go with Performance Package. I also drove both and without a doubt I knew that the the ZHP was the car for me. And I love the steering wheel and shifter boot, but I did opt for the leather seats instead. I guess its all a matter of preference and the only way to decide which choice is the right choice is to drive both.

As for the NAV, I agree with you, its definitely worth it!

As far as the Alcantra, you either like it or you don't. I'm not a big fan myself.

How useful is the NAV if you know your city like the back of your pocket? Are there any functions other then giving directions to addresses and restaurants that it performs? I lookup addresses on mapquest.com maybe once every couple of months. Would it still be worth getting NAV in my case?

once you go nav, you can never go back. i'm not a big fan of bmw's nav.. [doorpeek] but none the less nav is the wave of the future, and once you get used to it, it's hard to live without.

pros and cons: it makes you think less. [:D] so you decide if it's pro or con.

as for sp vs zhp, zhp rocks, thanks to the slew of cosmetic changes, altho i think the effect is more dramatic on the sedan over the coupe.

I still think the NAV is worth it -- even if you know where you're going. I find I use it most often on my way to work. I have a 45-mile commute to and from work (90 miles total per day) and frequently run into bottlenecks in traffic. I set my office as the destination (even though I know the way) and use the ETA feature. It is extremely accurate, and I'm able to tell people in the office exactly when I'll arrive. It's great when I get a call while I'm on the road about some major problem in the office and I can reply "I'll be there in 13 minutes" ;-)

only you can decide how much it will be worth to you, but I got the NAV and am glad I did!

For going back and forth to work, maybe not that useful. But for trips or finding a restaurant or something, its wonderful. For example on one trip I used it to take me right to the hotel. Then to find a restaurant in town. And I could drive around and explore the town without worrying about being lost, because the NAV knew how to get me back to the hotel.

I ordered a 330Ci with European delivery- ZHP and Nav. Even though the ride is harsh, and I did complain a bit about the 18" wheels 'tramlining' (following grooves in the road), I am glad I got it. The ride is sportier and the best thing about the ZHP is the body kit really makes the car stand out over regular sport package cars.

As for Nav, driving around the unfamiliar streets of Europe, the Nav was simply a Godsend. We'll see how much I'll get from using it when (if) my car ever makes it back here...

One more thing to remember about Nav- you can upgrade your Nav to work with your BlueTooth enabled cell phone, so you can see your address book on the screen and dial using the nav interface. Pretty neat, but I'm told it will be $500-700 to do the wiring. If you order the car and want to use this feature- don't order BMW Assist (or it will just be disabled on cars that already have it).

Lastly, I'm not a big leather fan, so Alcantara suited me fine. I definitely hate leatherette, so this is a better alternative. My car is leased so I'm not worrying about the fabric wearing out after 5+ years
