I was wondering has anyone with a 330ci ever raced a 325ci. Who won and by how much, both manual. I am trying to decide which one to buy, and wondering if the performance is worth the extra money.

Re: Choices

Officially or unoficially? [:D] Unofficially, 3 cars lengths and growing. Granted it was up hill so.... [rofl] Personnally I would go with the 330Ci because it's closer to the M3. IMHO. Good luck with the decision. [thumb]

Celicagts, there will always be someone with a faster car, performance wise, both do the same things at the same speeds, including top speeds. Does the extra dollar investment return the initial quickness over the 325, only you can decide. If you want pure off the line quickness, look into a G35, but at higway speeds and beyond, nothing compares to a BMW.

The G35 would be a nice choice, but you may not notice the slight 0-60 difference between the G35 and the 330i ZHP, I think it is like .2 better. But you would notice a big price difference of about $10,000 more from the 330i.

The 325 is a nice fun car. Look at the HP and then look at how many cars run in the same range, some are even bigger cars. The HP of the 325 is not bad. But if you want an all out high-performance race car type, money talks. I would love one myself but it is hard for me to justify 60-100++ for a car.

I had a 325Ci for about 6 months before getting a 330Ci. In isolation, the 325Ci was adequatly quick, but getting into a 33Ci you immediatley feel the difference, not just in outright speed, but the overall more relaxed nature of driving due to a fatter torque curve. I'd go for the 330Ci, though you won't be disappointed with the 325Ci.

Go for the 330c if you want better performance! No regrets! If you go with the 325, then please dont try and modify the engine...my .02 But after a while, every car seems slow...(although i have never owned a "really" fast car!)...damn!

I drove my friend's 330ci after he bought it two weeks after me. There's definitely a difference. The 325 feels kinda slow, but if you look around, you'll realize you were actually going pretty fast. Still, don't expect to win any stoplight races with it. Those big fat SUVs have 0-60s that can match it, let alone the little rice rockets out now.

My wife has a 325i and I have the 330i. We trade cars often enough so that I can tell you the difference in performance is very easy to feel right away. The 325 is actually pretty quick around town and of course it handles like a BMW, but on the highway is where you really feel the difference. Passing from 50 - 70 or similar highway speeds is all 330. With a downshift to 3rd, the car leaps forward and growls its way 70, 80 and beyond with no strain. The tauter suspension gives a sportier road feel. And by the way, I just love the grainy leather used on the 330i steering wheel, over the smooth feel of the 325. For me it's no contest. The 330 cost more for sure, but is worth every cent. [thumb]

I drove a 325 and a 330 the same day when I was looking to buy. I noticed the difference right away, and the decision was simple - 330.

I raced a guy in a 325ci this summer. Hehe, I came up to the light after he did, so I knew he had a 325, he probably didn't know I was in a 330. We were both stopped at the traffic light, I wasn't looking for a race. But out of the side of my eye, I saw him get all excited, he started playing with his shifter and talking real fast and loud to his girl in the car. I figured he wanted to race, but I let him make the call.

He dropped the clutch and made it clear that it was a race. I gave him about a car length and jumped on it in SLIPtronic manual. Within 50 yards I was a full car length ahead, he gave up and backed off. And the convertible weighs about 400 lbs. more than the coupe....

The 325Ci is my first BMW. My next car will be a 330 for sure. The 325 has 184 Hp vs. the 330's 225 Hp. So you have about 40 more horses between the two . BMW has got these motors tuned soo good that aftermarket mods won't have major horsepower gains. The reason I'm saying this is I wanted to mod my 325 but found I'd still fall short of a stock 330 . Unless you want to get a supercharger or something.

So if performance is important to you and you can afford the extra monthly payment deff. go with the 330 ..

Theres another big advantage to the 330 over the 325 that is quickly noticed. That is the brakes. I don't know the exact specs but it would be easy enough to look up, but you can feel the difference right away. The 330 has much greater stopping power, and that is always a good thing[thumb]
