330ci w/ nav and 12 speakers sys question

So I ordered the Navigation System (609) with the 2005 330ci. It's in productions as we speak.

What I want to know is how the 12 speaker system that's standard on the 330ci is configured w/ the installed nav. Seeing the brochures on a 330ci without nav, it looks like there is a center channel speaker underneath the stereo and climate controls. Then on another picture that had nav, I see the nav take the spot of two slots and incorporates the stereo. The climate control moves down one spot in place of the center speaker. Where did this speaker go? Or am I seeing things.

I read no where that getting the nav reduces the number of speakers

Any one have any insight to this or better yet have pictures of their configuartion with nav?

i dont' think there is a center speaker in the middle of the console. or i never noticed it [:p] unless you are talking about the hide away storage bin that climate control takes over..

i think you are just experiencing, "i just dropped a ton o money on a new car, and i want it to be perfect! anxiety." just curious does your nav come w/ a cd player? or do you have to spring for a cd changer? i think that'd be the bigger question. cuz my parents got screwed on a lease of an x5, when the dumb saleman never mentioned that the x5 w/ navs come w/ cassette deck only.. so no cd for them, unless they pay out of pocket for a cd changer. i heard newer navs do come w/ a cd player, but just to double check..

Yeah I don't think there is a center speaker underneath the console. But you do get 12 speakers with the HK system.

Yes I am excited and can't wait for the car to arrive. Should be around Feb 2005. I think it's about to get on a ship to San Francisco, CA

Whew that's good news. Anyone know where all the speakers are located in the standard 12 speaker system on the 2005 330 Ci?

At least you have the twelve speakers. The HK system in the convertible only comes with 11 speakers (that includes the sub woofer). I wonder where the twelfth speaker is installed in the coupe and sedan? The convertible has three in each door, two in each of the side panels in the back seat area and one subwoofer mounted in the trunk (behind the rear seatbacks) and doubles as a swinging door / pass through for the ski sack.

3 in each front door = 6 + one in each rear panel = 8 + two in the subwoofer compartment = 10.......Where is #11???

I count 12 in mine (non convertible)....3 in each door = 6 + one in each rear panel = 8 + two in the sub compartment = 10 + two in the rear deck = 12.

BTW I have nav and there is no center front channel.

Also you must specify the single CD player in the dash as opposed to the cassette when you order. Make sure your salesperson did this.

there are 10 speakers total, and 2 subs to make 12. i thought the subs were by the rear speakers, but on the convertable, i suppose they had to relocate the speakers.. edit: i mean subs.. geesh

as for the center channel, when was the last time a music system had a center channel? the answer would be never! because center channels are good for dialogue, which is applicable for home theater settings.

bmwrocks: i called bmwna and they told me that on the 04 x5, you can only get a cassette on the NAV. sounded like a BS and maybe they were trying to cover the salesman's butt.. i never followed up on it. my dad hates listening to music, for reasons beyond me, but whatever..

The two you have on your rear deck are located on our rear seat side panels.
3 in each door = 6
+ 2 in each rear side panel = 10
+ 1 subwoofer = 11

That "open" area that is no longer there when you order navigation is just a compartment to put stuff in. You push it in and it opens up like a little door. I think you think that's a speaker when it's not, it's just a compartment.

OK now it is becoming clearer to me.....sorry I can't read well. There are TWO in EACH side panel on the vert......AH HAH!!!!

But.....you guys are counting the sub as one instead of two.....I think there are two subs in the enclosure. BMW lists it as a 12 speaker system so are they counting the sub as two?

Unfortunately, we 'vert owners are screwed out of one of the subs. We only have one, but I "think" we pay a tad less for it. I haven't looked to know for certain, though.
