Hi!!

As some of you know I got my first new BMW a few weeks ago...a 2004 330cic...steptronic, cold weather, sport, premium package and security system. I love it...but am very confused about the power windows, their features and what the buttons do. I have called BMWNA & two local dealers..and keep getting diff't answers...I thought someone on here would for sure know!!!!

1. According to the 2004 sales brochure, the cd rom that came with the car and BMWNA---my driver window should have an auto up (one touch feature). I can get all of the windows to do auto down....but the driver window does not do auto up...although it feels like the button wants to do it...there are two noticeable clicks when depressed.

2. BMWNA told me all windows should do auto up, while the brochure only mentions the driver side auto up feature.....while the owner's manual does not mention anything about auto up.

3. The middle window control button, used to lower all windows at one touch, takes them down automatically, does not take any up with an auto feature, but when I hold that middle button...the 2 little back windows go up.

4. The dealer(s) told me that it should have an auto up feature, but they were not sure, and wanted me to drop the car off for one day (I am freaky paranoid about taking my car to the dealer....they always f*@^ something up). They said it might need to be programmed to do auto up, but the owner's manual mentions nothing about window programming.

SO SORRY for this Essay....just confused. Our household has had 15 Mercedes...we now have 3 new bimmers (a beautiful new Alpina and a 2004 X5 4.4)....and feel kind of dazed and confused. Any 330cic drivers share your expertise on window control functions & features Please help this BMW newbie!!!!

DANKE SCHÖN!!!! Freude am Fahren [wave]

I'm confused with this "middle window" control. I have the 330i PP and have never heard of that. Is that a unique feature that I completely missed???

Keep in mind that you should also be able to lower all the windows with your key fob also.

All 4 windows do indeed have an auto up and an auto down. If one of your windows doesn't do that, something is definitely wrong.

Good luck.

Thanks. The middle button is on the convertible model. Where the window switches for the driver front and driver side rear window are located, is anothre window switch. This "3rd" switch lowers all the windows with one touch, therefore you don't have to click on each window individualy.

So....my four windows should have auto up too??? Like I said the auto down works great, but I have to manually hold the window switches to make them go up. Do you have the convertible too???

Vielen Dank füe die Antwort/thanks for responding. tschüß

OK I have a 2004Cic and have been thru 2 Window motors and a door latch, because the first motor wasnt adjusted correctly and broke the door handle from the inside.

1. This window should auto up with one touch, as should the passenger front.
2. I was told due to safty reasons-You cannot auto up all windows on Verts
3. The "all window" button does not have an auto up feature see answer #2, BUT the 2 back windows should start up a second before the fronts, I was told they do this so they seal properly.
4.as far as I know all 5 buttons should do auto down-but only the fronts auto up

Hope that helps

No, I have a 4 door- so obviously I shouldn't have that middle button.

Learn something new everyday...

But without question, all 4 of my windows have auto down and auto up. You should not have to hold the button on the way up.

Thanks. So did your front window auto up work from day one, and then break, or did they never auto up like mine???

The "all window" button will raise my 2 rear windows, but only if I hold it...it is not automatic....and it does not raise the front windows even if I continue to hold the switch.

Arghhhh...i don't know if I should just leave it alone, being that all the windows work....do we really need an auto up??? going to the dealer is traumatic!!!! Danke!!!

LOL, my passenger window worked from day one but stoped going UP with the all window button at 600miles. When I brought it in I wound up needing the motor. I had it replaced and when I got it back the window didnt seal correctly, BUT since I was waiting on my new TRANNY I said Id wait to have it adjusted. WELL a couple weeks later I put the window down and heard a huge crunch. The windoe actually broke the door handle from the inside, So the whole thing nedded to be replace again and the door fixed.

I now have a new tranny and all my windows are functioning as there supposed to(keeping fingers crossed)

But I would take it back...I wouldnt let it go.

thanks...thinking maybe I should just wait until there is an issue that actually impairs driving. I mean I do have auto down...if the worst thing that ever happens to my cic is that I have to hold a button to close the window(s)....I will consider myself blessed by the German electrical gremlin gods!!!!!!!thanks...thinking maybe I should just wait until there is an issue that actually impairs driving. 4 door cars have auto up and down. the Cabrio's have auto up on the drivers side only- there is not an auto up on the passenger side due to no anti-trap strip in the door seal. This anti-trap strip is on all the 4 doors which is why they auto-up. Price out a door seal on the 4 door versus the cabrio and you will see they are priced around the same even though less seal is used on the 4 door cars.
