Hey everyone,

just wanted to post a quick follow-up. I gave in, and took my car back to the dealer to have the power windows fixed.....since they would not auto up, nor would the "all window" button function. I was probably pushed to doing this, since I started hearing this horrible rattle, shaking yesterday morning from the driver door heading all the way back to top. Having the car for almost a month (and never taking the top down[eek] , I thought maybe if I lowered the top, and then raise it, the rattle would go away. WRONG!!! When I raised the top back up, the sound worsened.... it sounded like pieces of plastic and bolts and nuts being shaken around in a tupperware bowl!!!! S*#@.

It was a very defeating feeling, taking a new 2004 BMW to the dealer for a repair....and to enhance the feeling of defeat...I drove away in a metallic brown Ford Focus sedan with lovely two-tone brown cloth interior. Freude am Fahren......yeah[driving]

Good luck, I actually had my issues while cleaning the car. I put the top down and was playing with the window when the big cracks came when it broke the door handle.

Back to the dealer next week 2004 330cic

Just wanted anyone else with a 330cic to share my frustration & pain..... the dealer obviously acknowledges that the windows do not auto up, nor does the "all window" button work, but diagnostics show that all windows are functioning to factory standards. Weird, huh??? Next week they are going to replace all window motors hoping that the problem will be solved.

Also complained about the top rattling...sounds like plastic on plastic in the rear of car/top, and along the driver window & door, and/or in the rear speakers behind the driver's seat (ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS)???

The dealer "could not duplicate"...and in fact said it was one of the quitest 3 series convertilbles they have ever driven. OMG...what does an avg. one sound like????

Hope ya'll have a good weekend!!![?|]

Ours is the quitest convertible we have ever driven, no rattle at all.

The windows all work individually, but not with the all window button and they are replacing the motors on the windows? Do they work indivudally? If so, don't they activate the same motor? Sounds like the dealer is just running up a huge bill for reimbursment, unless there are electronics or something built into the motors.

power windows

Hi Cordelli!! For being a convertible...mine is very quiet too.....expect for that rattle(s). The first 2.5 weeks of ownership were whisper quiet, then a rattle gremlin came to play.

I am taking my baby back to the dealer on Wed 3/24. They told me they are replacing the window motors. All windows go down via the auto down feature, but the driver window, nor the passenger will do auto up. Also with the "all window" button on the convertible, I can lower all windows with one touch....when I raise the windows, I have to hold the button manually and then only the rear window will go up...it will not raise the front ones. Very frustrating...and defeating.

Hope yours is doing fine. Thanks for responding!!!!

There are a couple of other threads on what does and doesn't come up with the all windows button. All four rise in ourt, but not auto up.

Also, I'm wondering if the pinch protection comes into play (maybe). I've had my 330cic for a little over a week and have noticed strange behavior with the "all window" button. The owners manual says the "all window" button will automatically lower all windows, but that you have to pull up and hold the button for all windows to roll up. When I'm driving with the top down and hold the "all windows" button, occasionally the driver's window will go back down all by itself (while the other three windows continue up). I'm thinking that the driver's window somehow will occasionally get ahead of the rear driver-side window and make contact with the rubber on the rear window (as both are going up at the same time), triggering the pinch protection (or something) causing the drivers window to go back down. When I pull up on the "all windows" button again, the drivers window goes up to meet the drivers-side rear window.

Hope the description isn't too convoluted. Has anyone else had this happen?

Hey there again,

Your probelm does not sound confusing at all. I think you need to take it to your dealer for service. My advisor told me that they are having a lot of problems with our cars in regards to windows. Mine too have done odd things, but the main problem is that my auto up does not work at all and the "all window" button will not raise the front windows.

Keep me posted if you go in for service. Taking a new baby in for service is very traumatic....take a deep breath...oh yeah, and a valium!!!! Hey-- maybe you will get lucky too, and will get a brown Ford Focus loaner with plush two-tone cloth interior. Now that is the real ultimate driving machine [}:)]

FInally CiC's with Issues like ive had!!!! I had the motors replaced and they are all working fine now. I did have the "phantom" drivers window stop from time to time and go back down. but it was pretty rare and stoped after SVC. I already have had my SLIPtronic replaced.

How is the radio on your guys CiC's, after the car heats up, I can hardly read the radio display, and thats with the top UP. I complain every time I bring it in, but they tell me this is how it is, live with it! It has me so frustrated that I almost feel like getting an aftermarket radio! I dont wanna screw up the look though.

So far my radio seems fine. The first two weeks after I got my 330, we had between 85-94 F here in Hollywood...and the radio display seemed fine. The black leather was a shock... my last 2 benzes had light gray (basically white) leather. Def. thinking about tinting the windows. Did you tint your windows??? Two of our Benzes that we tinted did not do well with tinting...the tinting made a loud squeak, screech.

My radio is controlled through the NAV screen -- it's plenty bright in daylight. I'm happy with that. One weird thing I've found -- when the heater is blasting at 91degrees with full fan, the CD player (behind the NAV) will overheat and register an error message on the NAV screen "CD Error". When I eject the CD (giving it time to cool down) then re-insert, it works great. The disc is hot to the touch when I eject it. Once it cools down, it's fine for like another 30 minutes or so.
