330d gearbox query

i have a 2001 330d but when it is cold the gear lever sticks and does not return directly to the neutral position.

I suspect it is either the spring in the gearbox has worn or the oil in the gearbox needs changing but i was wondering if anybody had any ohter idea's what it may be.

I would assume you are talking about a manual transmission. How many miles are on the car? Have you ever changed the transmission fluid? I would look into a synthetic like RedLine, that is what I run in roadster.

yes its a manual with 100k miles. i think i will start with that and then go from there.

gearbox problem

I have found the reason for the gearbox problem and cured it with box in situ.
If anyone is interested I will post details.
