I had my 330i in the body shop doing some repairs to the passender side doors and panels. After getting the car back, the battery goes dead within a day. Ive replaced the battery twice. There appears to be a huge drain to the battery when the key is turned on even with no headlights, fan, ac, radio etc. Absolutely no similar symptoms prior to body work. Absolutely no work was done in the cabin or engine compartment except a passenger front door was replaced. No drain when key is off.

Any thoughts where to start looking?

The body shop is helpful but has no clue where to start looking.

Many many thanks for any thoughts or suggestions. The body shop may solve this but it could take several inconvienant trips taking the car for days at a time.

The E46 330i is known to have an issue where there is an in-dash electrical motor that continues to run draining the battery, try and listen carefully for the noise near the climate controls/cd player unit. This is what used to drain my battery over the course of a week.

Hope this helps, otherwise that bodyshop might have incorrectly rewired something perhaps its a faultly window regulator, speaker, or maybe you need a new alternator. How can you tell there is no drain when the key is off?

Like I said, I'm betting the bodyshop incorrectly wired something, Goodluck.
