Great board!

Anyone know when 3-series line shuts down (July/August?)? After production resumes, any guesses as to continued availability of E-46 330i with performance package?

May be dumb questions, but I exit a lease in early September and can save some bucks if I can stay with it to FINEX. BUT do not want to miss out on opportunity to get 330i w/ ZHP and will exit lease early if needed to protect 330i PP purchase option. In this part of the country, finding new ZHP-equipped car on showroom floor is highly unlikely, let alone kitted out as desired. Thanks all.

You should be able to find one when you need it. Mine was one of eight in production and not sold when I purchased it last spring (truth be told probably 8,000 but you know how dealer are, they treat us like we have no business sense). The dealer tracked it down and BMW just changed its shipping location after production.

I needed mine for the same reason last year and found a number of options. You should not have a problem. If the dealer is telling you otherwise find another.

I understand BMW has little custom order flexibility, particularly in this class. It is based upon volume and usually reserved for higher-end models from what I understand, M3 and so on.

But they should be able to do for you as was done for me, getting one already scheduled and get it with what you want. I guess it could be called a custom order, but I just think of it as customization as the production is already scheduled from what I understand.

Last year, production shut down for two weeks beginning middle of August and ending first week in September.

Just south of Port Canaveral (e.g., Kennedy Space Center) on the east coast. 20 miles or so north of Melbourne.

gotcha. i'm visiting in sarasota. just off 41. nice weather compared to seattle =)
