Hello - Great forum

Have an '01 330i with Steptronic. Service Engine Soon light came on. Car occassionally runs at reduced power and sometimes stumbles and stalls when taking off from a dead stop. Idle is always fine. Restarting the care sometimes eliminates all problems except the light. Had the code read by a friend and it is P0505 - Idle Control System, but car always idles fine. Anybody have a similar problem?

Thanks

demetrios, welcome to the board. go get a code reader to reset it yourself or go to dealer and ask them to pull up your codes to see what's wrong or to reset lights. i got my code reader for my '00 and it's saved me a ton of $$$ so far. resets service lights and oil service, etc. go pick one up and then you'll know what repairs need to be done before you bring it to the dealer or to reset lights after service.

oh, georgeman, welcome to the board too. as far as you light on, the car will not run 100%. it will go into somewhat of a "safe mode" and you'll notice the car does not have as much power with that light on. as far as your problem goes with the idle system, haven't got a clue, sorry. keep us posted.

go to an autozone in your area they will check the codes it for free... Then go from there. theres a way of pulling your codes from the buttons on your dash on newer bimmers not sure how exactly read some other posts in these newsgroups [wiggle]
