I've narrowed down my next car and I think I am going to get a 330i. But I am new to luxury car shopping. I usually deal with the fleet manager at Ford and get a pretty good deals. I know there is probably little flexibility on pricing, but I want the best deal possible. I live in Hawaii so there is only one dealership. The guy I talked to was a sterotypical car salesman. Big mouth and very into himself. Unforuntately he also hosted a local car television show and I had to listen him talk about it.

Price: He basically said BMW doesn't put a big mark up on cars. Yeah, right. The standard practice is to take the listed dealer markup - $1,995 - off and sell it to you for the MSRP - excluding tax and licence and other fees. He said they don't haggle because he doesn't believe in putting his customer throught that type of process. Spare me. Is this typical for BMW? I was thinking about contacting the sales manager - I'm assuming there are no fleet manager at BMW.

Pain Sealent: I read where car salesmen hawk extended warranties and paint sealents because it is another thing they get commission on. One car buying guide I read said not to purchase it because they put a clear coat over the paint anyway. I plan on getting black. Is it easier to keep clean with a sealent? If this is something I should do would it be cheaper to not do it through the dealership? Dealer's price $500.

Air Conditioner: One review I read said that the air con was weak. On thing I liked about the Infiniti and Lexus was that air con in the seat was an option. Pretty neat option. Any opinions about the air con. As I said before I live in Hawaii and it gets pretty hot.

Thanks. I would appreciate any advice that can be provided.

Not sure what the above means, are you saying that the dealer charges MSRP and takes nothing off? He is not the only game in town. Go around the local dealership.
How much does it cost to ship a car from CA to Hawaii?
Cost out buying a car in CA and having it shipped. Also BMW has a very generous European Delivery program which just might pay your trip and expenses there.
Try ordering a car from the mainland and having it delivered. There are some good deals here right now.

you should be able to get at least 2K off the MSRP, thats what I got about three weeks ago for fully loaded 330i.

Thanks for the information. You would think that I would be able to get that type of deal. But we have only one dealership. I priced it out at Edmunds and I have an invoice price of $39,320, MSRP of $43,220. The dealer makes at least $3,600 off of the car.

I think I am going to first see if I can meet with one of the sales managers and get a quote from him. I am not sure if they allow that but it is worth a try. What's the worse that can happen? He would just tell me to see a salesman.

I would go for it, but just make sure you have exactly what you want on the car because it is a large investment, and you don't want to miss out on something good. However, the 330i is an awesome car. If you're getting 3.6K off the car, I'd say to consider it, but also look at the Lexus IS 350. It is really nice too.

Don't get quotes, everybody knows how much the car costs, just tell them that 41K is all you want to pay for the car and you are ready to close the deal. They may go up to 41.2-41.5 but not more. Be confident, nobody pays a sticker in May, the 2007 models will be coming in less then 6 months. It might be only 1 BMW dealership around but there are other brands too. Don't show them you're die hard BMW enthusiast, tell them you're considering IS350, audi, etc. Walk away if you do not like their price, they'll call you back.

good luck
