35% is fine, this means you are refectling 65% of the light. I have a 30% tint on my commuter and its pretty dark.

I know in NY (home state) you can not go darker than 35% on the passenger/drivers doors.
Tom is right with the computations, which means you can not go lower than 35 % for the front two side windows.

Rear door windows and rear window you can go dark as you want. Limo is insane, 5 % is even crazy. I had 5% on my back 3 windows years ago..... could not see out them to back the car up at night, would have to roll the window down and use side mirrors... Pain in the a$$. Suggest not darker than 15%, but my choice is 20%.

It should be alright. It'll still get sorta hot, but better than nothing. If you want to really block heat, you need to use one of the two brands of tint I mention in my signature. I like 35%. I'd say 20% is the darkest you should go. I've had limo (5%) too and I can't see out at night. It's even sorta hard in the daytime.

I have 35% all around in my 330XI and it is perfect!!! You can barely see in but you can see our almost perfectly!!! But you can always go 20%, 5% or 2 1/2%.

I have a doctor's note so I can go as dark as I want, but 35% is all I need!

35% does a good job of blocking the sun, but still makes the interior of the car very visible to people outside.
If you want the privacy of window tint, you should go with 15%.

Thanks for the input. I have decided to take my chances and go with 20% all around after seeing some samples. Most people in New York have 20% and are ok.

My friend has a black Audi Quattro with black interior and 20% tint. I sat in it and I could see out just fine. The car looks awesome from the outside.

20% sounds like a good idea. What I have noticed is that if you are an adult and your car has tinted windows, then the cops won't really bother you. But if you are a kid and you have tinted windows, you are probably in for it. I had 35% tint on my Jetta which is decently light...during the day you can't really even tell the windows are tinted, but I had a really tough time with the cops. [:(]

Same here "MrElussive." I got pulled over in my 2000 Trans Am, WS6 twice.. I have 35% tints in front and 5% in back. 35% looks darker on my ride because its a black/black car. The first time I got a $25 mail in ticket.. No problem... But the second time I got a $75 ticket. So I went to my eye doctor and he gave me a note because of my photophobia to bright lights (legitimate). So I took the note to court and got off in a second once the judge saw it!! I have a second note from the doctor that says I can tint the windshield (which I haven't). It's totally legal in Illinois to have tints if you have a doctor's note. Almost every state you can have all around tints if you have a note. When my M3 comes in I'm going to limo tint it!!! If I get pulled over all I have to do is show the note.

Although this one time on my b-day I got pulled over for the tints, show I showed him the note. He ok'ed it, and then game me a ticket for having a front bird plate, instead of having a lisence plate. Nice b-day gift, huh!!! [mad]
