So, after losing the brakes in my old 318i (and subsequently rear ending an old Honda) I picked up a nice '87 325es...I'm loving it!!![:D] No real problems I have seen, except that the power window fuse is blown (I think...) Since I dropped all my cash on the car, I don't have the funds for a bentley manual yet...where is the window fuse located in the fusebox?
BTW, crash pics and pics coming soon[:D]

Power windows have a 25 amp push button circuit breaker either on the dash or on the shifter console. Check that out first. If that doesn't fix it the switches themselves may be bad. Do any of the windows work? If so, the breaker is ok and I'd suspect bad switches.

Nope, the have no power at all. The previous owner said his girlfriend was playing with the switches, and now they don't work... if it isn't too cold up here this weekend I might have some investigation time.

This can be caused by the Window fuse - I had it happen a couple of months ago. replaced the fuse and all the windows started working again. Can't remember off the top of my head which fuse it is. Will try and find my book tonight and post the details [?|]

I shorted out the window fuse and i think as you look from the left of the car (if your fuse box is on the left) it is the 1st or 2nd one up fom the bottom left of the box. just look at the fuses and (without removing any) you can see which have blown or not!

It's fuse 17 and it's a 30 amp fuse. The K5 relay is also in the circuit but I'm not sure why. With those two items and the dashboard circuit breaker you should have everything power goes through to get to the windows.

Good luck.

Thanks to everybody for the advice, I never realized that black button on the dash with the red insert was a circuit breaker! I pushed it till I heard the click, then saw to my delight that the window switch lights came on, and sure enough everything works now...I have never had such an easy fix in my life! Does that breaker only break the power window circuit, or does it control anything else?
