Hello everyone. I've been looking for a car and i stumbled upon what i think might be a good deal. Its a Silver 1999 328i with leather interior and all the other good stuff for 11,500.

The interior and outside is in perfect shape and the rims are beautiful and well taken care of. The car looks like it has been babied. One of my main concerns is that it has 100,000 some miles on it. The owner says that most of them are highway miles from him driving to work everyday.

I still have yet to see the car in person, but from the pictures i've seen and what the owner has told me everything seems good. One of the main reasons i haven't seen it yet is because the private seller lives a good 2 and a half hours away.

Is it worth it? Is it even worth the drive to check it out because of the miles? Are 328i's good? I really need some help on this. I have no idea how dependable BMW's are after 100,000 miles have been put on them. All i know is that i'll never own another car in my life besides a BMW.

The price is in the correct range for that car. NADA for my area says 12300 to 15000k. Any BMW that has been maintained properly will last 200k plus. The key is demand receipts and repair history and have the car inspected by a reputable German car mechanic.

[thumb] I have to agree with Big Daddy, well serviced and maintained bimmers can run well into the hundreds of thousands of miles. Get the service records, and ask about the oil change intervals. I've driven my bimmer 182,000 plus miles with little troubles. The 328 has a slightly larger engine than the other 3-series models with a few more upgrades as standard equipment. Please take a look at it and by all means have an independent service center check it out before you purchase. Happy Motoring...

The 328 has a sweet engine in it... if everything is fine mechanically... BUY BUY BUY!! You won't regret it, we guarantee it!*

*Not a guarantee. (ala Simpsons)

...I hope you guys watch the Simpsons, or else that would just be crazy sounding.

Thanks again for the replies. I took the long 5 hour drive ( supposed to be 3 hours but the roads we're horrible because of a bad snow storm ) today and checked it out. It was in excelent shape and looked like it was never driven. I took a test drive around some long, empty, curvey roads and I couldn't stop my self from stepping on it. It was like a dream and i decided to buy it. Sadly, I can't get it until monday or tuesday and its driving me mad!!!! Again, thanks for the advice everyone. It helped alot!!!!
