Hello All just though I would share my 2nd engine mod, next is definitely some DINAN software. [:D]

Just this little mod put me into the DSP class in SCCA. Now I have definitely got to get new tires. The only noticeable change in performance is a greater tendency to chirp the tire in the 1st to 2nd shift and a deeper more throaty sound when you get into throttle. [thumb] Only problem so far has been a "whistle" at 1/8 to 1/4 throttle input. Oh well. [burnout]

Aloha,
Ian

Ian,

Definately looks clean!

Is that silver box on the fender well your xenon headlamp ballast relocated?

Did you do any "modifying" at the bottom of the spoiler area to let more air into that entraped airflow area behind the spoiler?

Nice mod!

thanks,
Krafty

Nice! I'm holding off on mods just for that reason. I want to stay in DS class for a bit. This is your 2nd mod, I missed the first. What was that? How about a tower brace? Didn't see one in the picture.

Hey guys sorry bout the late response but here it goes:

Krafty04 - Yep the silver box is the ballast relocated. BFP provided the bracket. And I did have to cut into the brake duct in the front in order to have enought room for the filter, which sits mostly behind the front fogs. It's going to be interesting when I go to change it. becasue installing did actually require removal of the front bumper. [8]

jonnyz16 - Not to sure about the next BMW session but the SCCA Solo II is on April 4th barring freakish weather conditions [:D]

Kirby - The first engine mod was the larger bore throttle body. Other that those engine mods I've got the clear corners and the Platinum Vision bulbs for them. Future plans are DINAN software and new tires. Thinking about doing the front and rear stress bars but torn on who to go with. May go with DINAN again but really like the racing dynamics one. But good lord kind of expensive.

After those mods the rest of the money will probably go towards paying down some the debt of owning a $30K car. Ah but it's, correction, she's worth every penny. [thumb]

I'm glad you like your intake SamuraiJack!!! Just to let you know, the whistle you're hearing is absolutely normal. All E46's with an aftermarket intake have this, which is one of the things that the restrictive airbox muffled. Most people go from getting used to it - to really liking it, and we've never had a return due to it.

P.S. Have you thought about a Carbon Fiber strut brace to match? [hihi]

Dan - Thanks for your reply definitely getting used to it. [thumb] Absolutely loving the sound at W.O.T.! As for the strut tower... I may get back to you on that. Thanks for a great product! [driving2]
