ABS/DSC Warning Lights

I've been having trouble starting my car recently, but I just thought it was maybe a low battery because I've recently only been driving once every two weeks or so. But today, I took my car out and every time I step on the brake or clutch, the DSC and ABS warning lights flash simoultaneously -- this also silences the radio/cd player for a brief second as the lights flash.

Has anyone experienced this before? Do you think the difficulty starting and the lights are related? I don't think the ABS is totally deactivated because the light doesn't stay on. I've never had any electrical problems with the car, but I'm wondering as I'm getting past 90K miles if those notorious BMW electrical gremlins are beginning to plague my car. Any advice before I take it the shop?

[thumb] Wuz up dude, I had a sort of the same symptoms with my bimmer. It became difficult to start and needed to be jump started twice because i left my parking lights on for several hours with a battery that was a little over six years old. My interior dash lights began to flash DSC, ABS and the CEL. I called my bimmer independent car dude and informed me my battery needed to be replaced ASAP. I was going to wait to drive two hours south to let him change it, however he advised me to replace it right away. Needless to say I replaced my battery and the phantom dashboard light show disappeared. Just my two and a half cents worth. Take your ride to an AutoZone, they'll check your battery for free. I replaced my battery with an OEM battery because OEM was only $20.00 more expensive. Happy Motoring...

Yup, definitely the battery. It wouldn't hold a charge. Kind of a weird way to tell the driver the battery is low...I know there is a battery light, why doesn't that just go on??

Got a new one today. First time I changed the batt. on this car...the OEM lasted for damn near 7 years! Not bad, especially considering it was kept outside during winters for four years when I was at college. Guess I should be glad it went before it gets really cold.
