Weel after two months of owning my car, my 330ci went through its first accident here on the ugly roads of Boston. Someone hit me from behind. There are some scratches on the rear bumper. He says that he'll pay for it. How much would it be to replace that bumper including labor and all that? I'm betting that it is quite expensive compared to other types of cars since it is BMW. I told him that since it's a new car, I would want top quality parts back on it and that I would have to go through BMW and no one else. I'm checking to get some numbers if anyone knows how much it this would be for a 2005 330ci ZHP performance package. Thanks

I would call your local dealerships and ask them who they use for body work. Those are the places that generally do things the right way and not on the cheap.

I would take it to one of those body shops and have them give you an estimate. It may be simply that the rear bumper cover was scratched up and needs to be replaced. They don't come painted, but it won't cost that much. The problem will be if the actual bumper underneith has been knocked out of alignment or there is any other structural problems that you may not be able to see from the outside. Then the price goes up quickly.

If you're just interested in parts and their ball park prices (not actual), you can check out http://www.realoem.com/bmw/ to get an idea what parts are involved.

I always hate hearing about car accidents, especially avoidable ones. I am glad to hear the person is willing to pay for what they did. I was rear ended last week at a red light by a giggley woman in an old Impulse. Naturally, she didnt have insurance. Atleast this one, my e46, was not totalled like my e36 2 years ago. I am still paying for that accident because she had no insurance either. There should be more reliable means of prosecution in uninsured motorist cases. But, I digress. Good luck on the repairs, the dealership is the best place to go to get your estimates, as aNoodle said.

The rear bumper is a plastic piece... It would be roughly $800 to get it replaced and painted, unless there is as previously stated more damage than just the plastic casing...
