I have on order a 2004 330i performance package and i was wondering if the car has adaptive headlights? I was looking at BMWUSA.com and it says that the 04 330ci has the adaptive headlights but it says that the 04 330i just has xenons. please get back to me thanks for all the input................

As far as I know, the Adaptive headlights were introduced on the 2004 3 series coupes only. They will also be available on the 6 series. Xenon headlights on the 3 series sedans are not Adaptive at this time. Hope this helps![:)]

Who knows. I thought that the March changes for the PP were for '03 and '04 and they were the same except for the additional options like the lights that were going to be on the '04. Not sure now. [???1] Perhaps they are not changing the lights??? It is VERY expensive to change processes in a factory, I guess they could have decided not to make any more changes.

You can build your 2004 BMW 3-Series Sedan on bmwusa.com now. The Bi-Xenons do not get the Adaptive feature of the 2004 3-Series Coupes and Convertibles.

I guess it is true, no adaptive lights on the '04 PP. They must have decided not to change anything from the March '03 model changes for the PP. You could wait for the '05, those changes will be BIG from what I see. [fake][joke]

Honestly, I really do not see the big deal about the Adaptive headlights. I feel that the beam of light produced by projector Xenons is so wide that the Adaptive feature just cannot help much. But then again, I've never used them, so wtf do I know.

gimik!!! gimik!! i suppose it's cool to have it, since it's all new and all, but i doubt it'll dramatically improve your night time visibility.

in all my night time driving, i never sat there wishing for adaptative headlights. but who knows it just maybe revolutionary.. as long as i dun know right? ^^;;

The only time I have ever noticed them and seriously been startled (like heart jumping out of chest cause i had the car for two days and i thought i was about to total it) was when i went to pass a car and quickly turned the wheel and the lights moved to the side (and i thought it was another car about to hit me [:(] ) But other than that they are just regular xenons that do a nice little dance at start up [:D] I love it!

do the lights wiggle left to right? or just up and down?

i believe xenons do self leveling when you first turn them on. pretty cool actually ^^

but man what happened to you would've scared the crap out of me.. should i be glad i dun have it? [unsure]

When you turn the car on they move up and down just like the Bi-Xenons, but when you are driving they move left and right (to follow the road). Until you get used to them, a little weird, but cool.

They sound awesome. I wonder whatever happened to that kid FelixDIB. He was the first on this board to get a 2004 3-series Coupe (325Ci manual trans.). He never did tell us how those Adaptive Bi-Xenons are.

oh yea, i know about them moving left to right when you turn the wheels to light the road that you are heading.

my question was on when you turn the light on and the lil dance that you mentioned it does in the beginning. i wasn't sure if it does a left to right sweep also or not.

Adaptive headlightsm while a nice bragging feature, do not really add that much to your vision. I have driven both with and without. The Xenon lights are soo good that the additional roadway lit by the adaptive lights are negligible... IMO anyway.

I think they circle when you turn them on.

I like it b/c if you're hitting a sharp turn (say like a 25mph turn) and you go pretty fast at say 50mph, you see the road coming, whereas if it didn't swivel, you might have to slow down to see where you're going.

However, the best part about it is when you wiggle the lights back and forth to confuse the car in front or across from you coming at you. [8]
