I was wondering, to those who have the new adaptive headlights in the 3 series BMW's, does the system really enhance night driving around turns? It sounds like awesome technology and I think BMW was the first to come out with it. Just curious...

I just bought a 2004 330i PP with bi-xenon adaptive headlights. I won't have the car til next week because it is in the process of being unloaded from the ship. My 89 got totaled on New Years day, the day after I was notified by Bavarian Autosport that it took first place in the E30 class photo contest.

If you are referring as I was to lights that turn up to 15 deg as you turn it is. Depending on which way you turn one light turns up to 15 Deg and the other up to 7 Deg. It is std on all the new PP and others if you have the bi-xenon optional setup ($700) according to the Motorsport Director at the dealer. I drove the car in daylight so I have not tried the lights. I know they have made some running year changes but the one I'm getting is a recent mfg and still on the boat. The lights are also self leveling depending on load. This I know is correct since I tried my son's 2003 330ci. Adaptive brake lights are also std in all models that vary in intensity.

Hi

I don't want to argue but sales men are sometime not very smart. The 330i does not come with adaptive headlights. They are Bi-Xenon and self leveling. The adaptive headlight are only available on coupes and convertibles. Are you buying a sedan or coupe? That would make sense. But so far no adaptive headlights or tail lights are available on the 3 sedans. And Bi-Xenons are optional.

I got the bi-xenons on my 330iPP. The adaptive brake lights are listed as std equipment on all 330 models in the new specs. Some early production ones may not have them. Like I said I know about the self leveling because I tried my son's '03 330ci. The xenon option code (522) is the same for both coupe and sedan. On the PP I could not tell because I drove the demo in the daylight and mine is still enroute. BMW makes a lot of running changes during model years and now the assist pkg is std on 330ci as of a certain mfg date. It is still an option on the sedan. I'll find out about the lights on mine after I get it and I'll let you know. To me they are nice but something else electronic to screw up and no one knows how to fix it. The sites are not always up to date as the SMG is also available at this time as a $1500 option in the PP and I did not see it in the site specs but I might have missed it.
