Can anyone recommend a decent one for my own personal use? I know there probably isnt much of a difference and it might not matter, but I figured I would ask before I bought one.

Since I check my tires once a week I have been changing the pressure often with the weather change...

DeVilbiss Charge Air Pro is a compact 2 h.p. model (dry-no oil)(110 vac) unit that is light and easy to use with a built in regulator to get you close to your p.s.i.

For heavier work, I use an DeWalt/Emglo 2 hp (wet-with oil) and tank system. It has dual hose capability and can even run my air tools.

I can't remember what they cost, but the light one was under $100.00 and the heavy duty was $250.00???

There are a millioin air compressors out there. You may want a 12 volt model (?).

Good Luck

I just want a simple one with little to no maintenance... I think the first option is perfect..

I just wanna plug it into one of my outlets in the garage. Nothing special.

Thanks for the information. :)

Ratbastard,

Go with a small unit, but one able to run air-tools.

Why ??

The plastic cheapo's take forever to fill up your tire, or anything for that matter.

Get one like you would use for a nail-gun etc.. (Home depot) they are not expensive, far better and dont use much space either.

my 2 cents -

2 hp Dewalt for air-tools, would be perfect, like "outpost" mentioned above.[thumb]

I agree - if you do any home mechanic or home improvement work, you should probably get a slightly larger unit. I bought a Craftsman 1.5 HP 5 Gallon tank compressor about 10 years ago. It gets used just about weekly. I have several pneumatic tools (Impact Wrench, 3/8" Ratchet) that I use with it. A GREAT time saver.

I've rented nailers for building a deck and finishing off my basement, blowing water out of pipes, etc. A unit with a small tank & CFM compressor will not have enough volume, recover quick enough, etc. to use with tools.

Also, if you are in to Halloween animatronics, there are some fun things you can do with pneumatics.
