My air cond. smells nasty when I first turn it on after 10 seconds when it starts to kick in the cold air hits and the smell goes away. Does any one else have that problem ? Is it normal ? I think it sholud not be because its a new fu... anyways ! thanks

i think that the less your ac is turned on the more it will smell, something to do with stagnant air in the ac system, mine smells too when i havent used it for a few days

You can also try turning off the A/C compressor (snow flake button) and just let fresh air run through the lines for a minute or so before turning the A/C off and getting out of the car. This can let some of the moisture evaporate out of the system, especially when using Recirulation. The MBZ dealer told me this years ago when I noticed this in my SL. Seems to work great for BMW too.

Quicky fix: take Lysol and spray it on your intake vents outside while you blast the A/C.

Hard way: take it in to the dealer. They'll do something similar, but with industrial machines.
