Air Conditioner/Heater comes on Automatically!

Ok

Everytime I start my car, the heater or air conditioner automatically comes on low. Is there anyway to make it so it doesn't come on whenever I start the car? Even though I push one the down arrow to turn it off, it is kind of annoying!!!

im not sure but i think it has to be programmed at the dealership, i dont think my dad's car does this

Yeah, it's the memory key thing. It remembers the saved preference on the key, in this case which is to have the heat or A/C running. You can turn it off as you shut off the car, but once you stick the key in there to get going, the car "remembers" that you prefer the air on.

yep, try the dealer. but may i ask you why i annoys you? i mean, what is wrong when the AC is on?

I was always under the impression that having the A/C on at startup meant unnecessary pull on the engine.

it is more load, but considering the mass a cold engine can pull w/o problem or danger, the A/C unit surely is like nothing.

could it also be, that if this exposes the engine to danger of increased wear, the A/C would be switched on yet not work for that instant? as precaution?

I just think its annoying to have to push the button to turn it off when I put my windows down and my sun roof open.

Yup... thought the same thing. I much prefer the windows down and the AC off. The only way I could get the 'AUTO' to stay off when I start the car was to use one of the fan controls to the left of the 'AUTO'.

Now when I start it up, my fan comes on low which I find more acceptable.

damn Bailey, so you know what I'm talking about...

That sucks that the only way to make nothing come on (ac,fan) is to go to the dealer
