Newbie here, recently purchased a used 1999 323i with all the bells and whistles with 53k on it from a buddy who works at a Mercedes/Infiniti dealer in Chicago. It was taken in on trade.

It's been running great but recently my airbag light came on. I haven't so much as tapped anything front, side or rear and can't get the light off. Because I change my own oil, I purchased the information center reset tool from autowerks.com. It's a nice tool but didn't fix my problem.

Could it be just a bad fuse? I hope the light doesn't mean that one of my airbags is deactivated. Anyone have any input, it'd be much appreciated!

It could very well be a problem with the airbag, hence the reason it's there in the first place. I would take it to a BMW dealer, with things like airbags, you shouldn't let anyone else touch it, IMO.

I had the same problem when i bought my 523i. Turned out to be some mechanism in the seatbelt structure that relates directly to the airbag that had to be replaced(sorry i dont know the exact part/section). After they replaced that faulty part and reset the light it didnt come back on.....
