Alcantara-vs-Leather

Greetings everyone,

I am new to the site, and I am currently preparing to order a 04 33Ci with the ZHP. Can anyone offer any recommendations on the Alcantara upholstery verses leather? Anyone prefer one over the other, and why? Which would one recommend for driving in a warm humid climate? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the site Roland!! I have gray leather and think it gives the car a classic. classy look. I would suspect Alcantara would be harder to maintain (how do you clean it?) with its texture, and may wear differently than leather, but I gotta tell you the Alcan is simply gorgeous looking.

I saw a white '04 M3 convert with it on the showroom floor and it was very sweet looking and feeling, but I felt like I would be scared to sit in it everyday for fear it would lose its perfect look over time. Kinda like brand new thick expensive white carpeting in your family room you'd be scared to walk on it.

Your reservations are well founded BMWROCKS. My friend bought a 03' ZHP about 6 months ago and his interior is already stating to show wear. The driver side seat and his steering wheel are the worst. It does look wonderful though new. Form over function
